The School of Dentistry partners with 15 clinics throughout Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. Dental, dental hygiene and dental therapy students provide care in these clinics as a course requirement for graduation.

Community Outreach and Engagement
The University of Minnesota School of Dentistry has been preparing oral health professionals for more than 130 years, and today the school is a national leader in dental education, research and oral health patient care. The school has a strong commitment to outreach, and community oral health activities are an important part of both our education and service mission.
Our Goal
The goal of the Community Outreach and Engagement Program at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry is to provide dental, dental therapy and dental hygiene students with experiences that reinforce their knowledge of the principles in delivering dental health care. This care provides needed dental services to a variety of patients, including the underserved. These experiences also enable students to participate in community dental health education, as well as dental career promotion and interprofessional education activities.
Our Impact
Between our community partner sites and locations visited by the Mobile Dental Clinic, the Division of Community Outreach and Engagement supports oral health care across the state of Minnesota and beyond. The Mobile Dental Clinic is owned by UCare and operated by the School of Dentistry and provides preventive and primary dental care services to pediatric, adult, patients with special needs, and senior populations and to assist UCare members in finding a dental home.
